1/10/26 Robotics Tournament and Team Update

After months of designing, building, testing, programming, and documenting, the Jordan High School Robotics Team kicked off their tournament season with a competition at the Le Center High School on Saturday, January 10th. We were one of 21 teams competing in this event; all from south of the Twin Cities like us.

The day started well with two decisive victories, but then after a couple tough match-ups we dropped to 2-2. As some snow flurries began to fly one of the team students remembered it snowed last time we competed at Le Center and he suggested that maybe it was a lucky omen. Whether it was skill or some of that luck, we won our next 4 matches bringing us to a 6-2 record on the day and 5th place overall.

Now it was time for alliance selections and playoffs! Considering not only the ranking, but other performance factors we decided to invite the 13th ranked team from Albert Lea to be our playoff alliance partner. We dispatched of our opponents 73-14 in the Quarter Final round, which then positioned us in a head to head match up with the number 1 seed! While their robot was a lot faster and scoring we utilized a lot of defensive strategy to neutralize them enroute to a 59-36 victory and our team's first ever visit to the last round of the Finals!

Once again we were the underdogs, this time facing the 2nd seeded team, but we utilized our strengths and strategies and came away with the big win 69-26! This was the first time we have ever won a tournament and qualified for the State Tournament!

Following our big win we celebrated at Clancy's in Jordan and started making plans and strategies for our next competition. We are very proud of all the hard work our students have put in, and want to thank the support of our student's parents as well!
